Makeup Basics--Silver Foxes

12 May 2011

Finally, I have completed the post for you silver haired ladies. I really love gray hair. I think one can look quite sexy with it and at 35 I am jealous of my friends who have already found gray strands in their hair whereas I have yet to find one. Most women in society go through so many changes and use harmful chemicals to cover their gray. During the Renaissance and Baroque periods--the courts of Marie Antoinette especially-- women would powder their hair to purposely make it look gray or white it was en vogue whereas today in our youth obsessed society, going gray is like a death nail in our coffins. I say celebrate your gray. It means you have lived and have stories to tell. I have dubbed you all Silver Foxes which usually refers to men but I think women are just as 'foxy' when they have silver or gray hair.

This particular hair color is a difficult one because technically its a neutral like raven hair however it tends to be more of a cool tone on the skin. Therefore you must use colors that are combination colors--colors that are both warm and cool. If you use colors that are too cool you end up looking gray and if you use too warm colors they can turn too red on your skin.

Here are some ideas for makeup for women of all ethnicities with silver/gray hair. Enjoy!

**Explanation. You do not need to only use matte eyeshadows on your lid if you have texture--read wrinkles--on your eyes but you must use Veluxe Pearl shadows. The glitter is small so it does not reflect a lot of light or fall into the creases. But keep it out of your crease. ALWAYS use matte colors in your crease. Also use winged out liner it gives your eyes an automatic lift. Good luck ladies!!

  1. Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog! There has been a trend where people dye portions of their hair grey - maybe you could fake it? :)
