Moving on up...

30 June 2010
Not really, I just packed up and moved out of my house with the other three girls into my mom's. I threw away so much stuff and what I didn't throw away I gave away. I dwindle my life down to six boxes, two suitcases and a pair of chairs but I am happier for it. I feel free. I plan to go through the boxes and subtract more stuff for the stash. By the time I leave I want to be able to fit everything into 2 suitcases and a carry-on.

I am still waiting to hear back from the University but some good things have been happening on my end. A customer I had met who works for Continental Airlines, decided to give me one of her buddy passes after hear my story and what plan to do. She was inspired by me and told me so.

I look forward to showing her around Italy as a gift of gratitude for saving me over $500. My friend "F" will be giving me a free plane ticket to D.C. and New york to say good-bye to my friends and see the east coast one last time before I leave because I have no idea when I will be able to return. I plan to spend as much time exploring, Europe, Eurasia, and Africa. I am excited about my life's prospects. I am cutting everything out of my life that is proving to bring negativity and dead weight to my existence. At this point I am just in limbo, waiting to know my fate but I believe my fate is in Italy.

Until I know, here's to a wonderful night.

Birthday Mania and packing

24 June 2010
Today is my mom's and her win sister's bday. Happy Birthday girls! Buon Compleanno. I have been packing non-stop. I will be moving in with my mom on Wednesday since my lease is up here at Casa Pazza.

I am only taking certain things and clothes and shoes and the rest I am giving to charity. I will be selling the rest of books today as well. I am considering selling some of my make-up as well. Basically, if it can fit into two check in luggage and one carry-on then it gets to come with me to Italy.

I still have not heard back from the University yet. But I am hoping that is a good sign.

Till next time.

Anxiety

15 June 2010
Does anyone go through this? Where you are on the brink of making the move of a lifetime and your psyche begins to play mind games with you? You are excited and then you start to conjure up everything that could go wrong on your journey? What if what if what if? Needless to say for the first time in my life I am having doubts. Freaking out to say the least. Will I be accepted into the school? Will I be able to find work and make ends meet? Or will I fall to the way side and have to come back home with my tail between my legs?

I am FREAKING!! What if I don't get accepted into school? Then I will have to tell everyone--for which I didn't tell--that I won't be going after all.

But you know, I don't care. Because I just say I will find another way. I will go somewhere else.. What if I am accepted? What if I am a huge success. What if I find happiness? I keep telling myself this every time my mind attacks my optimism and excitement.

What will I do

Many people have been asking me what I will do for income once I arrive in Italy. Well first I was planning to try to get an assistantship at the University but also I have many skills. I make house decor and I do wedding make-up.

I am trying to begin networking with photographers and wedding planners over there before I get there to get the ball rolling. And wait and see. My understanding is there aren't many make-up artists in Italy but people are in desperate need of them. The good thing is I have enough money to last me a year if I ate pasta everyday. LOL. But great things are still coming my way. I will keep you all posted. Still waiting for the University to respond to my package.

My new motto in life

03 June 2010

This is me enjoying life. Expecting to do the impossible. Conquering things no one in my immediate circle has conquered. The quintessential Renaissance woman. "What do you want to do with your life?" I am always asked. As if to say there is something deficient about it because I am not married or have children or have a seeming direction for it. The next time someone decides to ask such a 'probing' question, I have decided that my new answer will be, "To live it to the fullest."

I have never been a traditionalist. In fact I have always tried to do the opposite of what was expected of me and I have succeeded in most cases. I look at the long journey ahead of me and I want the last half of my life to be as adventurous as the first half.

I cannot and will not allow my life to be define for me. I plan to make sure that when it is over, I will have no regrets. No, why shouldn't I haves.. none of that jazz. Tanisha was put here for one reason and one reason only.. To experience life in a way that the essence of the goddess will always remember it.

I found this quote on a new acquaintance's page and I plan to live my life by it.. I am madly in love with life and I will let nothing stand in the way of my living, enjoying and squeezing every bit out of it.

The quote goes like this,

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, totally worn out and screaming 'WOOO HOOO what a ride!"

No truer statement has ever been uttered.

Have a good weekend!

Inventive ways to travel through Europe on the cheap

01 June 2010
I am so excited about the choice I have made. I have friends and family backing me-reluctantly of course--but still supporting my decision. I just got word that my package is complete and has been wired to my school of choice so keep your fingers crossed for me.

Even though, I have decided to become the quintessential Renaissance woman, and go study some of the most ancient cultures and languages in Europe, Bologna, Italy in fact, other people I know just want to travel throughout Europe without bogging themselves down with studying and just enjoy. So my friends have become inventful with ways to travel throughout Europe and learn new languages and cultures for practically free or relatively inexpensively.

One friend will spend six months traveling throughout Europe working on organic farms and vineyards. She will be hosted by WWOOF. They provide free lodging and meals for a days work. All she will be paying for is her ticket to her locations. And when she isn't working she will be couchsurfing throughout Europe.

Another young lady I met will be studying in France next summer. She will be taking courses in perfume and soap making. This site links you to a school in Marseilles that teaches a two week long course for $1000. That includes meals and room and board. What a fantastic way to spend a vacation!

Another friend of mine will be joining the slow cooking movement and taking culinary courses in Sicily.

There are so many opportunities out there for traveling the world and if there aren't any suitable for you then make them. We are living in a time of economic crises around the world, this is the time to grab the world by the balls and swing baby! Reinvent yourself, reinvent the world.
