Over at BBW where I am the fashion and beauty editor, we asked some of the women to send in a piece from their closet for which they did not know how to style and allow me to style it for them. I finally started receiving replies. This week I received two requests from two different women and here is how I style the first one.
Ms. Kay sent in this really cute and flirty floral skirt and asked me to fix it up for her. I did. Three times.

This is what I decided to do. This little skirt can transition n any season and for any occasion just by tweaking what you pair it with. For instance, this flirty summery pairing.

Why it works
Pairing this skirt with this crisp chambray top automatically gives it a spring/summer feel and since the chambray works as a neutral it automatically makes the skirt more casual, more fun, more girlie if you will. Pairing this outfit with the orange wedges pulls the color palette from the skirt pulling the outfit together and injecting a little bit of color blocking into the scheme. Or pairing with those cute blue jellies shows people you are willing to take a chance and that your style has its own personality.

Why it works:
Pairing this navy blue blazer with this skirt, automatically dresses it up. Throwing in this pasture green top, again pulls color from the palette of the skirt infusing a professional yet youthfulness to this outfit AND possibly a new color to your wardrobe. Pair it nude shoes and a clutch to match and Voilá gold. As far as beauty, this pastel blue nail varnish is all the rage at the moment and it goes perfectly with the colors in the skirt, some purple liner to add color to your face and a nude lip and you will look polish and put together but on your own terms.
How Vintage are you?
You can also give this cute skirt a vintage vibe. Well, that is if you are a vintage sort of girl like I am.

Why it works
Pairing this skirt with a cute cardigan, takes it from fun and flirty to preppy and vintage with a flick of a wardrobe change. Add a cream colored top and a belt to nip in the waist and it makes it a classic and classy staple. Don't be afraid to use the colors that are presented in the palette of the skirt to create a look, that is what those colors are there for. Ad some black tights and black pumps and this outfit is perfect for the cooler months. Don't be afraid to be daring or be yourself and I promise what you put together will work 90% of the time.
Watch out for Thursday's Ask A Stylist that I am putting together for another member of the crew. And if you have a piece in your closet that you are unsure of how to put together and you wish for me to do it for you, email a picture of the piece to askastylist@lattesandlipstick.com.
