I have begun my visa process for my travels to Italy. It just does not get any less stressful. Once I am there I will not be able to relax until after I pass my first exam-the entrance exam--that I must past to start classes on September 1st. Until then, i must gather documents for the Consulate to receive my Visa. For which I plan to have done by Monday.
1) 2 passport sized fotos
2)bank statements
3)travel statement
4)passport
5)letter from friend stating they will sponsor my lodging even if they are not
Talk about crazy.. However I am still very excited. I just bought my plane ticket. I fly out August 25th. Whoot! I have two layovers and 16hrs of flying. The most exciting plane ticket yet since I get to layover in Copenhagen. So I can add one more place on my list that I have "visited."
I bought my plane ticket fro $711 one-way on Cheap O Air. I have even guest blogged on the site. The wonderful thing about this price is that it is half the price of all the other site. My buddy pass fell through so I had to purchase my ticket. Most sites were quoting $1400 one-way. Craziness. All in all, it seems things are looking up for me. I am excited. I just need to make it through this last leg of the process. I can't give up now. I must make it to the oldest University in the Western world, founded in 1088. Holy Cow, that was right before the first Crusade. Talk about history.
Now back to studying and then to work. Have a good weekend

ReplyDeleteRight now I'm at a crossroad in my life. I went to Law School, graduated, passed the bar, and now can't find a job to save my life. All this has got me to thinking. Is law really something I want to do. Yes, but no. The law interests me but I got into this field b/c I didn't know what else to do. Ultimately, I want to travel and live abroad. I've always wanted to meet people of the world.
After reading your blog, I realize that all this is possible. I will now work toward this goal. It'll be nice to visit/live/work in Europe.

ReplyDeleteI stumbled across this blog and I'm so happy I did. I recently spent 7 glorious weeks study abroad in Florence. It's odd I feel like we are twin souls. I too joined the military to live overseas. I wanted to be stationed in Italy but instead got stationed in Okinawa, Japan for 2 years and Iceland for 1. I seperated from the Air Force and went back to school and quickly signed up to study abroad in Florence. I have always felt like I didn't belong as well but my friends chalked it up to me being confused. The truth is that during my time in Italy I was anything but confused. I truly felt at home. Since returing from Italy (after a 2 week depression) I have since started researching how I can go back next summer. My plan is to teach English in Rome next summer. My long term goal is to relocate to Italy permanately, like you are doing. I look forward to reading your blogs. I am very excited for you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your acceptance! Like you, I too am about embark on a move abroad. In a just over a week actually (trying my very best not to think about it too much). I will be studying for my masters in Denmark at the University of Copenhagen (beginning Sept. 1). How long is your layover??
ReplyDeleteJoyce, I will only be laying over for 1 1/2 hours. booo. However Copenhagen is one of the places I wish to visit so trust you will be seeing me at least once in the next year. HA! What will you be studying there?
ReplyDeleteCool! So you secured an apartment already? I've already started the planning phase of my trip to Italy next summer. I have been looking at apartments on craigslist and checking out language schools. I am leaning towards living in Sicily for summer. As for my long term moving goals after I graduate, I'm leaning towards moving to Rome. Not sure about that yet because every city I visited when I was there I said to myself "I want to live here." LOL Good luck with every thing. I'm excited for you!
