How to beautify Radiant Orchid and Coral

15 January 2014

Pantone color of the year is Radiant Orchid which is a gorgeous lilac-y purple that ranges from vibrant fuchsia purple to the light and airy lilac. Instead of enjoying this lovely color in only your clothes, why not incorporate it in your beauty regiment as well. Here are a few ways to use radiant orchid the winter and spring.

Coral made a big splash on the red carpet at the Golden Globes. Not just in the gowns, but in the beauty routines of the stars. The beautiful thing about coral is that it range from a bright orange color to a cooler pinky color. To brighten up your winter blues try adding a bit of coral to your beauty items.

Happy 1K Post: Brown Beauty Tuesday: Joan Smalls

17 December 2013
Still jet-lagged from my trip to America, and basically staying up until 5am in the morning, I nearly squealed in delight when I opened my tablet to the new issue of Elle to see Joan Smalls on the cover. I was like a groupie, a junkie in fact, skimming through the pages to read what she was up to since her infamous or shall I say famous photo shoot in Dazed and Confused Magazine where Joan took her racy photographic turn as Eve, as in Adam and Eve, a little over a year ago.

The term supermodel was coined by the 80s-90s glamazons Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, and Christy Turlington for the heights of which many models have tried to reach, but have fallen short until now.

The new girl to beat since Kate Moss's hayday is none other than Puerto Rican born Joan Smalls. Joan has been rated the #1 model in the world by models.com and is the 8th highest paid model in the world according to Forbes.

Joan was discovered by THE model whisperer and Givenchy creative director, Riccardo Tischi, when this then 22 year old had traveled to Paris to beat the pavement for jobs. When he saw her in the sea of girls who showed up for model casting for a couture show, 'her perfect features' stood. He knew then that she'd be a star and he would be the one to set it shooting.

Since that fateful day, Joan has gone to star in many high fashion couture runway shows and has found herself being one of the most booked models during Fashion Week. She has graced the covers of Vogue UK, Elle, W Magazine and GQ to name a few. And she is the first Latina to ever land the title of global beauty ambassador in the history of  Estee Lauder.

Elle has dubbed her the new movement in fashion to be all encompassing when it pertains to ethnicity. Showing the world that fashion represent us all.

Alluring Beauty Trends from Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby

26 May 2013
In my last post, I shared with you some fabulous fashion trends garnered from Lurhmann's The Great Gatsby movie. This time, I am bringing you the amazing and I do mean AMAZING beauty trends perfect for Summer and Fall. They are definitely vintage, bold and not for the lighthearted, but in all of these trends, I am sure there is one in here for every woman.

What are some trends that we can learn from the 1920s... Hear are a few..

Smoky eyes and Vivid Lips

I know they have said you should never do a dark eye with a vivid lip, but they were wrong. Trends come and go and then come again so my attitude is stick with what you like unless it is black lip liner and light lips. That, was never a good trend. Nor that sharpy brow liner trend.   But smokey eyes and vivid lips? That is just sexy.  I would suggest doing a 'daytime' smokey instead of a dark Kim Kardashian-esque smokey with these vivid lips. Here are a few looks based on skin tone and they are all interchangeable. It doesn't matter if you are dark or light, cool skin tones or warm, so use any of the looks at will.

Fun Nail Trends

Fun nail trends are also a part of this roaring theme. Blood red, oxblood, black, silver, gold and pastels like blue and lavender are definitely the rage from this time period. Check out these sassy colors and add them to your Summer and Fall wardrobe.

Oscars 2013--Get the Look

12 March 2013
The red carpet extravaganza was two weeks ago. However, the looks presented on it are still impacting our SS 2013 wardrobe. Are the fresh faced looks and brightly colored lips a hint of what is to come in the Spring? I think so. Jessica Chastain, Kelly Rowland and Kerry Washington are pointing the way to some amazing beauty trends this season.

Jessica Chastain and Brick Red Lips

Follow Jessica's style by wearing barely there makeup with a thick black liner and a brick red lip. It is this season's alternative to bright red.

Kerry Washington's Coral Pink Lips

Kerry Washington had it written on her lips. Coral is here to stay and it is so chic. If you want to get away from nudes but are afraid to go too bright then coral is your color. It has a elegant sophisticated feel to it.

Kelly Rowland in Matte Pink

Kelly Rowland tapped into her 60s child with this matte pink lip. Be careful that it doesn't make your lips look ashy by adding a flesh colored lip liner around the edge. This lip calls for boldness on the eyes like winged out liner and a metallic shadow.
