Chic Inspiration: Helen Mirren

23 July 2013
This past weekend I went to see RED 2 starring Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary Louise Parker and Bruce Willis. It was a fantastic movie that had me laughing until I cried. What's more, the women in the movie stole the show. Mostly, Helen "Siren" Mirren stole the show.

Not only is she bodacious, the woman has broken every boundary that Hollywood has carefully constructed when it concerns women and beauty. At 67--soon to be 68, Helen Mirren has played roles time and again that would have gone to actresses 1/3 of her age. How does she do it? She just doesn't give a damn.

Helen and her curvaceous physique has not changed much since she was in her thirties and at 67, she still looks amazing in a bikini...

and with pink hair.....

She is the ultimate Femme Fatale and I think I may just name a piece from my collection after her. Helen is the picture of age defying beauty, a woman who will not let other's standards affect how she sees or carries herself. So my inspiration today is the love Dame Helen Mirren, née, Ilyena Lydia Vasilievna Mironoff.

Style Inspiration: Hedy Lamarr

11 July 2013
Yes, I am still admiring the silver screen actresses of the 40s. They were so feminine, so tough, so sensually beautiful. Those women understood the power of their femininity. And Hedy LaMarr was one such star. This Austro-America siren was born Hedwig Eva Maria Keisler into a "Jewish haute buorgeoirsie" family in Vienna, Austria-Hungary in 1931.

Not only was she beautiful, she was also an celebrated scientist. She is the mother of wi-fi. She created the basis of the wi-fi code with composer George Antheil in 1942. It was then called the 'frequency-hopping spread-spectrum invention.'

Inspiration Post: Classic Hollywood Glam

01 June 2013
Today, I am just relaxing in my home and eventually I will get up to clean and wash my hair. But for now, I am dreaming fantasizing and putting my Fall collection together.

Last week, I was in a conversation discussing women's "health" and "beauty." And it got me to thinking about the beauties from the Classic Hollywood era, who are truly inspiring my fall collection along with the 1920s-40s style. And I realize how beautiful their bodies were and elegantly feminine they are compared to the women today.

These notable women are inspiring me this morning and it is they that I somewhat--style wise-- model myself after. These women are extremely healthy, but by today's standards they would be considered plus-sized.

But before I post pictures of them, I must share these fabulous shoes that I found that are custom made. I must have them. They are very reminiscent of this era. You can find them here.

Now on to the women.

Mae West

Jean Harlow

Dorothy Lamour--who looks oddly like Eva Green

Irene Dunne

Josephine Baker

Vivien Leigh

Gloria Swanson

Rita Hayworth

And then there was these two who came about a decade or two later:

Marilyn Monroe

Sophia Loren

and the jewelry!

Tom Ford S/S 2012

30 April 2012

Tom Ford S/S 2012

Today, is a lazy day, but no day is lazy when concerning me. When I am supposed to be relaxing I am always creating.

It is this vain that I will not be posting much over the next few weeks. I am preparing for the next big chapter in my life and once the ball starts rolling I will share a bit about it. These changes will also effect the blog. The blog will get a facelift and some small changes will be made.

At the moment I am preparing next month's Chiczine and searching for inspiration for a project I am working on. I have also been made the Fashion and Beauty Editor over on Beyond Black and White so I have been quite the busy bee.

Recently, I started reading F. Scott Fitzgerald The Beautiful and Damned and just taking a communication break as much as I can.  While on this break I have stumbled upon a few things that make me smile. One being Tom--I wanna have his babies--Ford's S/S 2012 collection. As everyone know, Alexander McQueen is my all time fave designer but he ties with Tom, and don't tell either of them that I am cheating or pow right in the kisser.

Anyhoo, Tom's beautiful S/S 2012 collection makes me happy and it inspires me to no end so I want to share some of my fave pieces with you. Until next post, have a fabulous Monday!!
