Lattes + Lipstick: Handmade Jewelry Cartoline F/W 2012-13

30 November 2012

I’ve been busy working on my up and coming A/W 2013 Handmade Jewelry line. I’m, still waiting for the rest of my shipment to come in. I’ve been waiting for a full month. However, I have been creating with the supplies I do have and I am loving where the line is going. The line for F/W is called Cartoline. It is inspired by Victorian postcards from around the world. Here’s a preview to what I have created so far. I look forward to creating more to add to these lovelies.

Sadie: Founder of Shhh Sadie Jewelry Designs

Location: New Zealand and Wales

Shh by Sadie was founded by Sadie Hawker of Wales, who begin dabbling in jewelry design to while away her time after moving with her fiance to New Zealand a few years ago.

She has a zest for unique pieces and bright colors and has had the fortune to have her jewelry grace a few glossies and the skin of many NZ celebrities.

I love her use of textures and items that pop. She has a fantastic eye for design, color and trends. With her love for fashion jewelry and design, Sadie is definitely making waves in the art world in her own way.

Spotlight: Maria T

Founder of Silver Town Art

“What inspired me to get involved in the jewellery business is the great cultural background of silversmiths of the area. The whole city of Ioannina has a characteristic, artistic atmosphere that derives from this long history. I feel strongly that this significant tradition of processing silver in the small town of Ioannina needs to be preserved and enhanced, which is my first motive apart from delivering unique, sophisticated jewellery.”

Dolce and Gabbana: Fashion Faux Pas or Genius?

Dolce and Gabbana garnered some criticism and back lash from some for this beautiful collection. As a black woman I do not find this collection racist, but a celebration of the history of the isle of Sicily and the diversity of beauty.

Fashion #Trending: Parisian Stripes

I must admit that this is one of my fave all time classic trends, Parisian Stripes. It is so, well, chic.  With its bold stripes and reds, navy, white and black colors and metallic embellishments, how could anyone go wrong with this trend? Not to mention its silhouette is perfect for all body types.

Give it a modern edge by using classic jewelry pieces created with a twist like this pearl necklace and beaded nautical bracelet by Shh By Sadie.. Add a chunky heel and you are a classic modern girl.
