Makeup Basics-- Buxom Brunettes

15 April 2011
Finalmente I have finally finished with putting together a brunette makeup basic for you. It was difficult to choose which way to go and that is why it has taken me so long. The fun thing about being a brunette is you can pretty much wear anything. It is like having brown eyes. All colors look great up against the warm chestnuts and mahogany hair or cool ash browns that are brunette. Why is this you ask? Well, for the most part brown is a neutral color unlike orange--redheads-- or yellow--blondes-- which is another reason why ash blonde--tan--is similar.

The fun thing about brunettes unlike blondes is they too have a dual color system like red heads. Brunettes either have warm--red tones-- or cool--olive tones--to their skin. If they are freckled, you follow the same protocol as a mixed toned redhead. They also range from very fair skinned to dark skinned. Brunette is the most common hair color.

1. Keira Knightley
2. Natalie Portman
3. Anne Hathaway
4. Ashley Judd

Again, like I stated in previous posts, when you are looking at your skin tone, if you have warm tones like Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley you want to stick with cool tone colors to balance it out and if you are golden or cool toned like Natalie and Ashley then you want to use warmer colors to balance out the coolness in your skin to keep you from looking gray.

Enjoy the looks I have put together for you. An explanation will be provided for all of them at then end.

1. I chose lilac lipstick because it is another popular color of the season and purple and brown is an amazingly chic color palette.

2. I decided to go with red lip stick for brunettes instead of blondes because when I would work at Mac, I had so many brunettes tell me that red only looks good on blondes. Not true. If there were to do a little a research into the classic Hollywood actresses 75% of them were brunettes.

3. I chose gray smokey eye palette because I feel that gray shades for a smokey eye looks amazing on brunettes. Better than black even.

**Water line is used to indicate the inside rim of the eye, above the lower lashes.
***Cool tones or warm tones refers to your skin under tones and not the color palette
